WHAT IS GRASS FED BEEF?

Grass fed beef is meat from cattle that have never eaten anything other than their mother’s milk and grass.

 

Our cattle enjoy a free range lifestyle on flat, green easy-living pastures. The pastures provide them with grass to graze, and we also feed them hay grown right here at the farm.  As a result, you don’t have worry about hormones or antibiotics in your meat.

 

IS GRASS-FED BEEF BETTER FOR ME?

Yes! Our grass fed beef is lower in fat, calories and cholesterol than grain fed meats. They are also higher in beta carotene (vitamin A), conjugated linoleic acid and omega 3 fatty acids, which help reduce cholesterol, diabetes, cancer and high blood pressure.

 

Not only is it better for you, but it’s better for the cattle and the environment.

DOES IS TASTE DIFFERENT?

Grass fed beef definitely tastes different...its tastes great, like true, tender, rich beef is meant to taste.

 

HOW DO I PREPARE GRASS-FED BEEF?

Our grass fed beef is significantly lower in fat than what you may be used to. To enjoy all the tender, rich flavor, you’ll have to pay a little extra attention when cooking. 

HERE ARE A FEW SIMPLE STEPS:

  • Bring your meat to, or close to, room temperature before cooking

  • Heat a skillet over high heat and add meat, searing 2-3 minutes each side

  • Turn down the heat to medium and finish cooking to the desired internal temperature.

  • Use a meat thermometer to measure the internal temperature

  • The final crucial step is to remove the meat from the heat and let it rest for 5-15 minutes. Cover your meat with aluminum foil – loosely for rare and tightly for a little more done.

  • Enjoy your grass fed, flavorful, healthy beef!
